Adult Digital Literacy Workshops
DIGITAL LITERACY WORKSHOPS FOR NON-TECHY ADULTS
Do you struggle with using your phone or online services efficiently and effectively? You are not alone.
Adults are not digital natives and are often overlooked for technology support. TenForward is now offering a variety of community workshops on topics that adults find frustrating and need help with, such as how to update apps on your phone, how to get emails on your phone, how to communicate with your grandchildren via apps, how to check the bus times and use Google maps to plan a trip on public transport for free with your Gold Card, and how to sell things on Trademe, how to order a taxi or food using Uber, and even how to set up a good online dating profile!
Using new technology and the internet is something that is a recreational need for everyone in the community, but is a learning curve somewhat more difficult for older adults. These workshops are not a full educational course, but more of a casual drop-in session on relevant online topics so people can learn the next step in whatever their diverse interest is, and learn some new online life skills.
Below is our schedule. You can book in using this easy form, or you can email firstname.lastname@example.org. The first 200 people to book into any course get a free ticket, thanks to InternetNZ! (limit: one free ticket per person). Ticket price for additional workshops you choose to attend is $20.

KNITTING/CROCHET WORKSHOP - MAKE A PLASTIC BAG BAG
Make yourself the greatest sustainable bag of all time, using plastic bags!
The white and grey bag is made from 35 supermarket bags!
The stripy pink bag is made from 55 coloured plastic bags!
All those bags are saved from landfill or the ocean...
Belinda Hope of Blendy Knits will take you through the steps to create PLARN (PLastic yARN) from your plastic bags. Then you can start making a bag from various design options, in your choice of knit or crochet (you must already know how to do basic stitches in one of these crafts).
What you need to bring:
- Some plastic bags. These can be soft plastic supermarket bags, or thicker plastic bags, or even old video tapes if you're Marie Kondo-ing and found a bunch (they'll be perfect).
- a large crochet hook or knitting needles (approx 6-7mm) or you can buy them for $5 in the workshop
You can attend one workshop for free thanks to the Auckland Council Creative Communities Scheme, so come along and have a fun crafty time! Any additional workshops you decide to attend are $20 each.
We can run workshops on other dates and times that suit your group - email email@example.com
